Poker Tips: Taking advantage when another players goes on tilt

poker-chipsWhen a poker player goes on tilt, it is a great, profitable opportunity for you. Players going on tilt make a ton of mistakes because their judgment is clouded by emotions. Poker players who are on a tilt will have two tendencies: to play scared or play in a loose-aggressive manner. Let us look into ways how you can make some profit out of this situation

Scared players

Respect bets and their raises. Remember that these players will not bet if they have a bad hand and surely they will just raise when they have monster cards.

Bluff frequently. These players will bite a semibluff or a bluff and fold a lot even when they have good enough cards to play.

Steal antes and blinds. The scared type on a tilt will never push back when you push them. In case they re-raise, back off since they have good cards for sure.

Checking. When these players check, it does not mean they have bad hands. You can expect them to check even with good hands.

Wild Aggressive

Always be on the lookout if a player is about to go on tilt if not already on tilt. This kind of tilt is very contagious so you must be very careful.

Be the fire starter. Keep the gambling party going. You want the player on tilt to be on tilt for the longest time possible. Monitor how the other players are and if they are also about to go on tilt, push a bit and they will.

Best seat. Position is the best weapon against someone. You want the unpredictable ones to your right while the predictable poker players to your left. You want to see how things go crazy with the player on tilt before you act.

Adjust as necessary. Play solid poker against players on til and make sure you have a good stack to back up your exploits. You can check-raise, slow play and bet against these loose-aggressives on tilt when the field is quite thin. You do not fold on the river. What is important too is that it is clear that the other player is on tilt and you are in the game to take his money, and not go on tilt yourself.

Ace Queen is a very powerful hand, especially in heads up poker or shorthanded play…

The Cosmopolitan Hotel & Casino – Las Vegas

This photo was taken near the entrance of the Cosmopolitan Casino Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on opening night in December 2010. As you can see, the tables were packed with gamblers and visitors were flooding the hallways.

The cosmopolitan is the latest new luxury Las Vegas resort on the strip, and it’s… expensive! ;-)

Burning Ace King Suited – Big Slick

Big Slick burning. It’s suited in diamonds, and it’s an absolutely killer hand in No Limit Hold’em, but much like the big pairs, it’s very tough in big pots after the flop. In tournament poker, especially in the later stages, it’s one of the most powerful hands because it’s much more straightforward than let’s say a pair of sixes…

The hand is often also referred to as Walking Back to Houston – seeing as loads of Texans would go broke with it…

Burning Jacks – Pocket Jacks

A perfect photo for every story on Pocket Jacks, seeing as they always loose unless you miraculously flop a set of jacks. Notoriously difficult to play, and a very expensive hand when getting much action at almost any time during a hand in No Limit Hold’em.

Burning Kings – Pocket Kings

Two kings in flames. The King of Spades and the King of Clubs, on fire. Can be used perfectly to talk about a hand where the cowboys lost to Queen Jack Suited.

Burning Queens – Pocket Queens

The Pocket Queens are a BIG pocket pair, but they often face overcards on the flop, and can cost inexperienced players loads of money. I know one thing: I love getting them, but I’ve lost more money with them than I’ve won… For some reason, I fare way better with King Queen Suited.
